my class is working on pros and cons, my subject is if a cell phone tower is an advantage.

I bought a wireless modem a while back that was supposed to work with my internet (bigpond regular broadband) connection, but I tried setting it up and the modem wouldn’t connect to bigpond at all. It would completely set up in every other way though. Is it just that bigpond needs specific modems, the type of net connection is wrong for the modem or something else?
