Internet connection through a cell phone tower, what is it called?

Our DSL is about to expire and we travel a fair amount of the time. Is it possible to use our laptop and a cell phone to connect to the internet? Who are some providers, how expensive is it? How reliable is it?

Several cell phone companies provide computer cards to be able to access the internet through your laptop. I know for a fact that verizon does and there service has been pretty dependable, at least for my phone. I have not ever tried out there service, but I’d imagine as long as you were getting a digital signal the service would be pretty dependable. I have no idea how much it costs though.
