I’m 519 area code, and I’d like a software program or website that will allow me to call local numbers in Canada, although access to other countries would be nice also – I’m not interested in getting a voip ATA, I’d only like to make outgoing calls.

We currently lease a Nortel Norstar phone system, but would like to buy a system flat out so we can eliminate monthly payments and manage it ourselves (we currently get billed if we call just to ask a question, and we have to have them come in to add/remove mailboxes, etc.).
We have 10 employees right now, but have 14 extensions currently open in the office (2 are empty desks, and 2 are common area rooms). We would need a good voice mail system that is remotely accessible, auto-attendant and automatic call distribution, music while on hold would be nice, and the ability to automatically forward calls to other extensions or outside numbers. We do not have VoIP or anything fancy like that — we pay our phone company for 6 lines (one of which is a fax line). We only have one phone number public, which seems to automatically connect to any of the 5 lines depending on which is open.
Can anyone recommend an affordable and easy to manage phone system?

The wired router has phone jacks for VOIP and the wireless router doesn’t. I’d like the phone jacks and the wireless options.

I’m using internet voice over IP phone service (VoIP) from ITalkBB. Sometimes I call back the unrecognized phone numbers and get the message of "I’m sorry, the number you have reached is not in service." I suspect the calls from these numbers are from telemarketing agents. No matter who they are but how do they use a bogus phone number? Or are there any explanations about this? – I don’t think it’s my phone’s problem because I have three phones with caller IDs and all of them show the same number.

I use a cable company’s modem for the internet service and another cheaper phone voip for service. I was wondering if I could just purchase a similar modem else where and only pay for the internet service.

Family member (out of state) could not call in via Verizon Wireless cellular service to my Magic Jack VOIP number or my friend’s Magic Jack VOIP number. They could reach me and my friend ‘s Magic Jack via Com cast land line telephone service though. Same family member can call my land line with Verizon cell phone. Is Verizon blocking cellular service to Magic Jack VOIP calls? Friend and I are connecting our Magic Jack’s via Verizon DSL wireless service.
Thank you

I’m not clear on what is free and what you have to pay for. Can I use Skype or some other VoIP to make a free call from my computer to another computer? If so, when I see the fee for monthly service, is that for calling people on their regular phone line?
